April

Grandmommy's 94th Birthday Party
Mom was there, and Liv, Tim & the boys came a couple days later. Grandmommy loved her cards...they were funny.

Then we had yummy Strawberry Shortcake.

And then we made a Choke Chain.

Easter

Traditional Bunny Meatloaf (isn't his mushroom mouth the cutest?!)

Momma and the girls made cinnamon rolls and twice-baked potatoes, along with a lot of other food. We brought fruit and caramel dip.

Pinewood Derby
Blake made a Monorail Bus complete with graffitti. He had to glue pennies to the top of it to make it to 5oz. It didn't race well, but he tried to have fun anyway. The cookies at the end helped.

Mac
Blake missed having his own dog and he decided he wanted a Cocker Spaniel. We were on the list for an American Cocker at the Humane Society but the people before us got her. In early April they called us to let us know we didn't get her but they just had a young male come in, owner surrender. He had two trial homes before he came to us. He is an English Cocker, like my Reuben, 9 months old and had been allowed to rule his original home (they had 2 toddlers and decided they needed a puppy, too.) He had some bad habits, particularly being mouthy and biting. He has learned quickly and well. He is a huge bundle of joy and wiggliness...seriously, he can't keep his butt still, even when he's sitting. He loves to chew on everything, so we have to make sure he's only chewing on allowed items and not things like balls of used painting tape.
He's a beautiful, fun-loving, good baby and we all love him. He bonded right to Blake, just as we were hoping. Blake decided that his original name fit him well enough, so he kept it. Blake and I call him all sorts of names like, Macabee (I use this the most), Macs (Blake's most used), Mac-a-baby, Mac-a-doodle, Macaroni, MacDonald. Michael, of course, calls him Mac.

These are pictures Blake took. Mac falls on people's feet and rolls around on them on his back while he makes little grunting-growly sounds...he's really goofy. He had cherry eye sx before we got him and his left eye will always weep. He may have a little entropion, too, where his eye lids roll in and the eyelashes rub on the eye. If needed, we can have it surgically fixed, but now it just causes weeping, which is no biggy.

I NEED to put up my own blog things! Good girl!!! GG is great isn't she!?!? The meatloaf looks wonderful - did it taste good too? On next years derby car, carve out the wheel wells carefully so there isn't too much wiggle room, and when you put pennies on, try to arrange them on the center-to-back end - putting them on the front causes too much pressure and drag and slows it down. FUNFUNFUN days! Oh and the garden looks GREAT - and it's great that Blake likes to help:^)

The meatloaf as good.

Blake was lucky to get to do a second Derby...in the other ward, last year was his last year...in this ward there's more wiggle room, which is why he also gets to go to Day Camp. He turns 11 just after the June deadline.

Unless something changes, the missionaries are coming over on Saturday to work and have lunch with us. They'll help us rip out a ton of grass on the south side of the front yard so I can plant 18 lavender bushes I'm getting from Cheri. Also a nice garden patch (so far we have tomatoes, peas and pumpkins to plant) in the middle of the front yard where we'll have a gazebo in the future.

WOW Industrious! Now if we can only get a non-rainy day here so we can plant and clean up we would be in business!!!

Looks great!
